The second annual Irish Hotel Awards was held on the 24thApril 2018 in the luxurious surroundings of The Heritage Killenard. Representatives from the hospitality industry across Ireland came together to celebrate the achievements of an ever growing and thriving industry.
The team at The Heritage pulled out all the stops to deliver an unrivalled evening of fine dining, celebration and craic. Executive Head Chef Ian Clifford created a menu sponsored by Heaney Meats, Ballinwillin Farm, Bluebell Falls Cheese, Crossogue Preserves, Traditional Cheese Company, Lindt Chocolate and Dalcassian Wines. Followed by an after party that is rumoured to have continued until the small hours!
Programme Director, Nicci Smith said, “Tonight is all about celebration, it’s about recognition of excellence. Recognition of the unwavering commitment of the hospitality industry in Ireland to providing outstanding guest experiences for visitors to our island.
It is without a doubt the people who make Irish hospitality what it is. As part of our jobs, we are lucky enough to travel the island extensively and we experience this personal touch first hand. So much is said about the challenges facing the industry – staff shortages, the looming shadow of Brexit, the promotion of the industry as a viable career option for young people.
But even given these challenges, what we experience on every trip, are people who are going the extra mile to offer true Irish hospitality – not only promoting their own hotel and area, but also selling ‘Ireland’ as the world class destination that it is. It is the passion, commitment and dedication of people in the industry that makes Irish Hospitality what it is – a truly unique experience.”
The Irish Hotel Awards is sponsored by AIB Merchant Services, Rational and Britvic, recognising and rewarding excellence in hospitality and service across Ireland. It is the only awards programme that takes an all-Ireland approach to working with the hospitality industry.
